Why distance buckets matter
A 30-yard field goal is fundamentally a different play than a 50+. Distance-weighted formats reward big legs — a single 50+ FG can be worth as much as two short ones (6 vs. 6 under Distance), and more than two under Big-leg (7 vs. 6), which is why “leg strength” matters for kicker rankings even though the position is usually the most volatile in fantasy.
How the math works
Every made kick pays by its distance bracket, every miss costs what your format says it costs, and the total is a straight sum — no bonuses, no thresholds. The full bracket table, per format:

Standard is what most host sites default to — misses are free. Distance pays a premium on 50+ and docks a point per missed FG. Big-leg is the volatile one: 7 for a 50-yarder, −2 for a clank. A worked example under Big-leg: 2 FGs from 0–39, one 50-yarder, one miss, and 3 XPs is 3 + 3 + 7 − 2 + 3 = 14 points — the same line scores 14 in Standard because the miss is free but the 50+ pays only 5.
