Yahoo fantasy football scoring settings, explained
What every stat is worth in a Yahoo league by default, the two settings where Yahoo breaks from ESPN and NFL.com, and a calculator preset to Yahoo’s half-PPR scoring.
Score a line in Yahoo’s rulesYahoo default scoring
Yahoo’s default format is half-PPR — every catch is worth 0.5 points. These are the point values Yahoo applies to offensive skill players out of the box:
| Stat | Points |
|---|---|
| Passing yards | 1 per 25 (0.04) |
| Passing TD | 4 |
| Interception thrown | −1 |
| Rushing yards | 1 per 10 (0.1) |
| Rushing TD | 6 |
| Receiving yards | 1 per 10 (0.1) |
| Receiving TD | 6 |
| Reception (half-PPR) | 0.5 |
| 2-point conversion | 2 |
| Fumble lost | −2 |
The calculator below is preset to Yahoo’s scoring: half-PPR receptions and −1 per interception. Two-point conversions are an input too, so a quarterback’s line matches Yahoo’s box score without any hand arithmetic.

Quirks worth knowing
- Interceptions cost only −1. This is Yahoo’s signature difference. A quarterback who throws two picks loses 2 points on ESPN or NFL.com but just 1 on Yahoo — a small but real edge for high-volume, mistake-prone passers.
- Fractional scoring is on. Yardage scores to the decimal (a 55-yard game is 5.5 points) and the 0.5 reception value is fractional, so Yahoo point totals rarely land on whole numbers.
- Bonuses are off by default. Yahoo supports yardage-milestone bonuses and other add-ons, but a standard Yahoo league ships without them unless the commissioner enables them.
- Default roster: QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, TE, FLEX (W/R/T), K, DEF, with a 6-player bench and 2 IR slots — a 15-man roster in a 10-team league.
How Yahoo differs from the other platforms
The core stat values are nearly identical everywhere — 0.04 per passing yard, 0.1 per rushing/receiving yard, 4-point passing TDs, 6-point rushing/receiving TDs. The two settings that actually move rankings are the default reception value and the interception penalty:
| Platform | Default reception | Interception |
|---|---|---|
| ESPN | Standard, 0 (Half/Full PPR offered) | −2 |
| Yahoo | Half-PPR, 0.5 | −1 |
| Sleeper | Half-PPR, 0.5 | −1 |
| NFL.com | Full PPR, 1.0 | −2 |
Yahoo lands in the middle on pass-catchers (0.5 per reception, same as Sleeper) but is the most forgiving on quarterbacks alongside Sleeper thanks to the −1 interception. If you also play in an ESPN or NFL.com league, mentally dock your Yahoo QBs a point per pick when you compare them across leagues.
